The rising number of incidents and costs of IT outages clearly demonstrate a need to be able to foresee and take action on potential capacity issues before they occur. For example, Microsoft?s Azure cloud services recently suffered numerous outages and performance related issues that undercut their position in an already highly competitive market.
Obviously not all outages can be avoided, but I believe if companies took a more proactive approach to capacity planning ? allowing them to identify and action potential performance impacting capacity issues well before they occur – many such painful outages could be avoided. What are your thoughts? Can most outages be avoided?
